The prostate is a small gland roughly two inches inside the rectum, towards the front of the body. It is sensitive in a way that is quite different to external stimulation, and for many people it is worth the small amount of learning involved.
The curve does the work
Prostate massagers are curved for a reason. The shape is designed to reach the right spot without you needing to push hard or hunt for it. If you find yourself forcing something, the angle is wrong, not the pressure.
Many designs also have an external arm that rests against the perineum, adding a second point of stimulation.
The rules are the same as any anal play
- Flared base, always. Every massager we sell has one.
- Plenty of thick water-based lubricant. More than you think, and reapply.
- Go slowly. Let the muscle relax rather than pushing through.
- Stop on sharp pain. Discomfort that eases is normal; sharp pain is not.
Starting out
Get relaxed first, because tension makes all of this harder. A warm shower helps. Lie on your side with knees drawn up, or on your back, whichever is easier to reach comfortably.
Insert slowly with plenty of lubricant and then simply wait. Give it a minute before doing anything. Once you are comfortable, gentle pressure or slow movement towards the front of the body is what you are looking for. Sensation often builds gradually rather than arriving all at once, which surprises people.
Manual, vibrating or hands-free
Manual massagers are inexpensive and give you full control, which makes them a sensible first purchase. Vibrating models add another dimension and many are remote-controlled. Hands-free designs are shaped to stay in place and work with your own muscle movements.
Hygiene
A shower is enough for most people. If you want to douche, plain lukewarm water only, gently, and not often. Clean the toy thoroughly after every use with a dedicated cleaner and keep it separate from your other toys.
A note worth making
Enjoying prostate stimulation says nothing about your sexuality. It is a nerve-rich gland and it responds to touch. That is all it is.
